This historic motor yacht dates from the early 20th century when there were still many Watergemeenten in Friesland. A water commune was a commune that could only be reached by water, i.e. without a road or rail connection, which meant that the residents had to rely on transport via the water network that was dug to drain the land, using windmills and locks to regulate the water level. The ditches along the farms were often narrow and shallow, and boats were adapted accordingly. Most ships were sailing transport ships, such as the well-known skûtsje. Sloops made of wood or steel were used for passenger transport. After the advent of the diesel engine, narrow steel boats came into use. For church visits and receiving important guests, wealthier families used a specially equipped boat, the "church boat" or "notary boat." Step by step, the water communities were connected to the road network and the usefulness of the church boat disappeared. Some, like this little boat, did convert to tour boats. This little boat was neglected and was found half-sunk in 2004. The riveted steel hull was completely stripped bare and built up from here with layers of epoxy and then rebuilt to the model of the original tour boat. Everything with solid teak and all the facilities of our time, including bow thruster, electric toilet and clean and dirty water tanks.
Currently the boat has been in storage for over a year.
