This dragon was built in 1938 for an owner from Haarlem. She was built at the famous de Vries Lentsch shipyard in Amsterdam.
Sometime after the year 2000 found in a meadow in Belgium by a Belgian hotelier. This gentleman had the ship restored (read newly built) at the yard of van Damme in Zeebrugge. This shipyard also restored the dragon of the Belgian king, to indicate the level of work.
No expense was spared in the restoration, the ship was built almost entirely from scratch. This restoration is well documented with photographs.
Bronze fittings from Davies of London, Meisner bronze winches and winch handles with laser inscription (see photos) etc. sails, summer deck tent etc. all from 2005 but in almost new condition. Teak deck in perfect condition, mahogany superstructure, new wooden mast and boom, and what is special with a dragon, a built-in engine.
We could go on and on, however:
-the hull needs to be splined, due to drying out the hull is cracked lengthwise in several places, this is easily repairable, hull will probably need to be painted afterwards (i.e. no longer in clear coat) You can do this repair yourself, we can also do it for you.
Part of the pictures shows the ship immediately after the restoration, part as the ship is now. Call the broker and owner J.D.Smits for further information. 06 536 13 635.
For vessels from 1985 and younger, the seller must be able to prove that VAT has been paid. Vessels from 1984 and older are exempt from VAT.
This dragon was equipped with a built-in Diesel engine when it was restored in 2005. The owner of the boat sailed from Zeebrugge and wanted a reliable drive when entering and leaving the port. The engine has very few running hours and is in great condition. the Dragon is also for sale without the engine,
We can also provide the buyer with the installation of an electric motor developed in-house. This can be seen functioning in another dragon.
Cockpit sail, tarpaulin full cover, cover roller genoa, cover at bottom mast/deck, sheets, mooring lines, special fenders (Doomernick)
Sails brand Hoj Jenssen, blocks Harken racing
