Lemsteraak "Sabijn" - Seaworthy and full of character
The Sabijn is a seaworthy Lemsteraak, designed and built by Siep van Houten at the Phoenix bv yard in Westerbroek. She is part of a series of Lemsteraken known for their strong construction and excellent sailing characteristics. Since 1982 this ship has made a sea voyage almost every year and has thus amply proven her qualities.
With a hull length of over 13 meters (lock size 14.5 m), the Sabijn has an ideal size: comfortable for longer trips and at the same time compact enough to easily find a berth, even in smaller (fishing) ports.
The continuous gangways and enlarged keel beam allow the swords to remain up in heavy seas. The rigging is adapted for sailing with a small crew, making the ship easy to sail.
The Sabijn combines:
* classic Dutch shipbuilding
* Proven seaworthiness
* comfortable dimensions
* character and history
Extensive technical specifications are available.
