Description Oostvaarder 10.40 MS

The sturdy Oostvaarder 1040 is a cutter rigged motorsailer with steel chine hull and long keel, the ship is also suitable for somewhat larger waters.

Both the genoa and the cutter sail are roller reefed and can be operated from the cockpit with four self-tailing winches. The mainsail is hoisted at the mast, with grab handles at the mast foot for grip.

The aluminum mast is equipped with steps. The gunwales are wide and allow for free passage past the wheelhouse and superstructure. The high foot rail and bulwark provide security for the crew and keep the deck clear of tube water. On the foredeck is a foot-operated electric anchor winch. Behind the sturdy wheelhouse is a sheltered cockpit with steering wheel. Navigation equipment and bow thruster controls are located at the steering position. While sailing, visibility is optimal from the raised bench seat at the stern seat.

In the wheelhouse, in addition to a second steering position, a sofa, a wooden table and bench. At the steering position is a switch panel, GPS chart plotter and VHF radio. The table and wooden bench can be folded up for more space. The windows have aluminum frames, two of which can be opened. In the cabin there is a dinette on the starboard side, which can also be used as a sleeping place. Opposite is the galley with gimballed stove, sink and refrigerator. A boiler provides hot running water for the galley, wet bar and outdoor shower. Several deck hatches and folding portholes provide ventilation.

The forward cabin has a spacious double bed, with a closet and shelves for storing clothes. Between the cabin and the forward cabin is a wet room with toilet and the sink can be slid away after use. A holding tank is also part of the equipment.
